On September 27th, the R20 Foundation, the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg, and The Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster (EEHH) have signed a memorandum of cooperation to facilitate wind infrastructure projects in emerging countries. The signature ceremony was held in the Hamburg Elbphilarmonie, in the presence of Dr. Rolf Boesinger, State Secretary of Hamburg Ministry of Economy, Traffic and Innovation.
For Armand Jost, President of the R20 Foundation, the strong know-how accumulated by North-Germany in the wind energy sector represents a unique opportunity for R20 to advance wind energy projects, currently underrepresented in its portfolio. Indeed, with more than 25 years of experience and almost 200 enterprises in its network, the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster brings the expertize for sound pre-feasibility and feasibility studies needed to convert potential projects into bankable investment opportunities.
Dr. Andreas Mattner, chairman of Alexander Otto’s foundation “Lebendige Stadt”, facilitated the discussion for cooperation with Hamburg. For Dr. Mattner, who is also a member of the board of the R20 Foundation: “Hamburg is the European wind energy capital, so the collaboration of these three strong partners is a logic consequence. I am delighted that, in the future, the know-how of the metropolitan region will be transferred into the world by our sustainability organization ”R20 –Regions of Climate Action“.
