In parallel with the One Planet Summit, Arnold Schwarzenegger met with Valérie Pécresse, President of the Ile-de-France Region, and Jérôme Chatrier, Vice President of the Ile-de-France Region in charge of economy and labor, in order to prepare the creation of a consortium of top G20 regions that would be welcomed as new members of the R20.

Acting as a “political club”, the objective of this new R20 members’ coalition is two fold:

1. To strengthen and accelerate the interest from Financial Institutions in infrastructure projects coming from sub-national authorities
2. To leverage and utilize G20 regions’ expertise and companies to help their partner regions in the South to develop and implement low carbon and climate resilient infrastructure projects.
